The Ottawa Catholic School Board is dedicated to providing your child with a safe, positive secure and caring environment. This morning, the Ottawa Police directed administration to put our school in secure school due to an alleged/potential threat in the community. Students were directed by staff to a secure area; all external doors were locked. Other schools in the area were also required to secure their building.
The lockdown/secure school is a proven police/emergency response to protect students and staff from harm by creating safe places in a timely manner. At St. Patrick’s today, staff and students responded efficiently and rapidly, and the situation was very quickly under control. The secure school was lifted under the direction of the police.
If you have any questions regarding this situation, please do not hesitate to contact me, or one of the Vice-Principals at the school. The continued support of the parents in our school community is greatly appreciated.
Bríd Mc Donald,
