Ottawa Catholic School Board Refugee Support

Refugee support continues at the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB).  Our Family Welcome Centre for Newcomers has helped dozens of refugee families and students get settlement support and register for school since the summer.  Many more are coming, as we know.

School and Board fundraising efforts support existing local organizations, persons, parishes and churches that are sponsoring individual refugees and families of refugees.  The next Board-wide fundraising day for refugees is December 14.
​  The Board is holding a "Refugee Support Information Night" on Thursday, December 17th, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.  For more information please see below:

WHAT:

This information night is for individuals and groups sponsoring

refugee families. Information about the following topics will be

covered:

• Registering for an OCSB school

• Supports available through our Family Welcome Centre for

                  Newcomers

• English as a second language (ESL) support for students and adults

• Community supports from partner organizations

• Pastoral care and the Archdiocese
